Joanna Stewart

eyc accompanist Joanna Stewart was born in Edinburgh and educated at the Mary Erskine School for Girls, where she was twice awarded the Iver Salvesen Music Scholarship.

After a diploma in music at Edinburgh’s Napier University, she was awarded the Eric Bowden entrance scholarship to the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where she studied piano and oboe with Phillip Jenkins, Gustav Fenyo and Stephen west.

During her time in Glasgow Joanna enjoyed singing with the RSNO Chorus, including a tour to the Far East.

Since graduating, she has taugh piano at George Watson’s College and performs regularly as a soloist and accompanist. She is currently the accompanist for the Erskine Stewart’s Melville Community Choir and has been playing with edinburgh youth choir since 2003.

Recent performances have included Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle with ESMS Community Choir and Carmina Burana, arranged for two pianos and percussion, with George Watson’s College, as well as many concerts with eyc.
